Mindfulness in the Early Years

Mindfulness is a buzzword in education and a practice that is never too early to start. Children are naturally mindful, but lose this skill quickly if it is not supported by their environment. As an Early Childhood Educator, you have an incredible opportunity to use mindfulness as a tool within your classroom to support both your personal well-being, and the well-being of the children that you serve.

In this workshop you will learn:
• The basics of mindfulness
• The language of mindfulness for kids
• What a mindfulness practice looks like in an early years classroom
• Simple mindfulness games and activities that you can incorporate into your programming
• Strategies to develop resilience and self-regulation skills using mindfulness

Physical Literacy and the Early Years

Physical literacy is the development of fundamental movement skills that enable the child to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of activities that benefit the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of the child. Kids Yoga for School Agers

School Aged children are met with many ‘new’ demands and experiences that test their awareness and regulation skills almost every moment of the day. They start to feel the pressures of every day life, and the pressure on you to create a balance of freedom and guidance for them to thrive can be really challenging.

Kids Yoga & Mindfulness can be used in a School Age classroom to help both teachers and students navigate life’s pressures together – supporting an exploration of our bodies, minds and senses – and how they work together to support the healthy development of our whole self.

In this workshop you will learn:
• What Kids Yoga & Mindfulness is
• The language of Kids Yoga for school agers
• Inclusive and engaging kids yoga based activities for school agers (breathing exercises, poses and yoga games)
• Ways to make yoga fun with just the right amount of challenge for this age group
• Strategies for bridging the gap between doing yoga in class, and bringing yoga home

Yoga Beyond the Classroom

Bridging the gap between the learning that happens in your classroom and what happens at home can be challenging, but when done well, contributes greatly to the development of a child’s whole sense of self. In this workshop you’ll learn various (and easy) ways to incorporate kids yoga in your classroom, and tools to engage families and inspire them to share the practice with their kids at home.
