laLa wellness provides fully equipped Yoga & Mindfulness Programs for children aged 0 – 6, and workshops for early childhood professionals.

We travel to child care centers and schools to give children and their educators a boost of feel-good energy through movement stories. We know we’ve done our job well if we inspire engagement, expression, belonging and well-being through play. {Cue the smiles, light bulb moments and ‘I did it’ breakthroughs here!}

I’m so grateful you’re curious about kids yoga and mindfulness, how it can benefit you, and how easily it can be brought into your classroom. It’s passionate professionals like you who get us REALLY excited for what’s to come in our early years and education systems!

We create all of our kids yoga classes and professional development workshops with a lens of love and the intention of shining
a whole lot of Light.

Meet the laLa Team

Hello & laLa to you! My name is Lisa and I am the founder of laLa wellness yoga and mindfulness programs for children and educators.

I’m a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher & Continuing Education Provider with certifications from Rainbow Kids Yoga and Yoga In My School.

I grew up living and working in the early years community alongside my Mom who is an RECE and childcare owner/operator. My life has been a series of experiences that have given me a 360 degree view of what it means to dedicate your life to children. From life-fulfilling rewards to rock-bottom burnout, I’ve seen and experienced it all.

I’ve experienced it as an Assistant Director of a childcare center – how fun it can be when things are going right and how scary it can be when something goes wrong.

And I’ve experienced it as someone who works with children while struggling with anxiety and depression myself.

I do this work because I see the potential that early childhood professionals have to change the world … one present moment at a time.

I am a proud Physical Literacy Champion with the PLC Network in the Region of Peel, was named one of Brampton’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2017, and am the author of I’m a Growing Yogi .. the first of many laLa kids yoga and mindfulness stories to come!

laLa Kids Yoga Teacher & Community Engagement Coordinator

Hello! My name is Colleen and I am a laLa Kids Yoga Teacher and Community Engagement Coordinator. My intention is to embody love and Light always (laLa!), with my heart and soul each day.

I have been a mover since the first day I can remember. It’s how I’ve always felt joy. I started with gymnastics as a little girl and grew to also love figure skating, snowboarding, cheerleading and running. I like to mix it up and try it all!

My love of movement and for working with children have given me many opportunities to inspire the next generation to love movement too.

I’ve been a Summer Sports Camp Counselor, Lifeguard, Swimming Instructor, and Youth Rowing Coach. Every experience has shown me that I was always meant for this kind of work!

Teaching kids how their bodies move and how to enjoy physical activity is something I’m very passionate about. My family is in the business of physiotherapy and body rehabilitation, so I grew up with a deep understanding of the human body, and a strong foundation for well-being.

After graduating from University with a B.A. in Sociology, I went straight into working with children as a social worker. My time in that role has helped me to better understand child development and the importance of dynamic and playful engagement at a young age and beyond.

laLa Program Coordinator & Advisor

Hello Everyone! My name is Jessica and I am laLa’s Program Coordinator & Advisor. I’m a Registered Early Childhood Educator with an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have always been passionate about supporting children with exceptionalities and have a Certificate in Advanced Studies in Special Needs.

I grew up dancing my entire life and now I love to practice yoga! I have worked in a variety of early years settings as an educator in the classroom, as well as supporting educators within their classroom. I value the importance of bringing mindfulness and yoga practices into learning environments, and I strongly believe in the developmental achievements children experience while participating.

You’d be amazed at what a child’s body and mind are capable of when they’re given the space to explore.

Kids Yoga Classes & Programs

laLa wellness offers a variety of kids yoga classes and programs for child care centers and schools. Whether it’s a special event (like an in-house field trip), monthly, bi-weekly or weekly classes, there’s always a way to fit yoga into your program’s schedule!

All laLa kids yoga classes include movement and breathing elements through songs and stories that encourage:

  • Creative expression
  • Coordination and movement
  • Relaxation
  • Inclusive and accessible fun for children (and adults!) of all ages!

Kids yoga has all of the foundational principles of adult yoga with a little added element – FUN! We sing, dance, laugh and move our way through each yoga adventure in ways that allow us to be aware of our bodies, breath, and what’s going on around us.

What’s Possible With Kids Yoga & Mindfulness?

When children are given tools that help them understand the way that their bodies, minds, and breath work together, they start to develop a sense of self that contributes to:

Enhanced self-regulation and motor skills

Compassion towards self and others

Creativity and expression

Positive body awareness (inside and out)

Feelings of relaxation and stress relief

A love for movement and physical activity

Improved balance, coordination, flexibility, strength and focus

Compassion towards self and others

Overall health and wellness

Don’t be surprised if you see us getting silly – that’s how we learn best! And after all that fun, relaxing on our yoga circles to take some big belly breaths lets our bodies know just how important it is to rest.

‘When children learn from environments, people, and practices that encourage connection throughout their whole sense of being, they grow into the citizens that will shape and positively change our world.’
